Chairman’s Report

John Mosey gave a resume of the year which began with the annual party held at the Bentley Brook at Fenny Bentley.  This event was organised by Helen Walker and Mel Ward and was very successful

The Spring Run, organised by Tom and Liz Sread took members on a Friday this time to Helmswell Antique Centre.  Later, there was afternoon tea at Denby Pottery.

The week away was organised by Bob and Britt Westhall and took members to Wales.

The Summer Run was organised by Sue and Tom Flower and as well as explaining to members how farms have diversified.  The run led to Heage Windmill.

The Autumn Run was organised by Chris Chapman and John Mosey. Melbourne Hall was visited and the cars were all able to be parked in front of the Hall.  On the return journey, members enjoyed a meal at the Roebuck at Draycott.

Election of Officers

John Mosey, who has served 5 years as Chairman, has decided to stand down.  He thanked everyone on the committee and in the club for all their support during the last five years and said how much he had enjoyed it.

The new Chairman elected is Tony Walker – proposed by Shirley Staley and seconded by Non Mosey.  Tony was duly elected.

Dave Hatchett is continuing as Treasurer and Sara Bayliss will reprise her role as secretary.

Additional committee members are : Bob and Britt Westhall, Polly and Stephen Hall, Doug and Liz Billings, Liz Sread, Hilary Coates.

Treasurer’s Report

Dave Hatchett said the current balance in the bank stands at £4431 which is well above the standing balance of about £3000.  This is due to monies being held for the AGM meal.  There was a loss on one of the runs but nothing to worry about.  Dave told the club there needs to be 10% of turnover held on account. This is fulfilled presently so subscriptions will be held at the same level which is £10 per couple, £5 per person.

Dave thanked John Mosey for all his work during his chairmanship and presented a gift to John and Non in tribute.

Planned Events for 2026

Winter lunches will continue as Noggin and Natter meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 12pm at the Shoulder of Mutton pub at Osmaston.  There will however, be NO event in December.

The Annual dinner will take place on Feb 20th at the Bentley Brook, again organised by Helen Walker and Mel Ward. Invites will be sent out in January 2026 and answers need to be in by the end of that month.  The price for this event is still under negotiation.

The Spring Run will take place on Sunday April 26th.  The venue/destination is still to be confirmed.

The week away is being organised by Brian and Jane and Colin and Jane. It will take place from 14th September until 17th September and will be at a hotel near York. There are currently 30 rooms booked, with 54 people having confirmed their attendance so Brian asked whether anyone else would like to go and if so, to please contact him. A further 10 rooms will be held over until January 2026 for any extra people who would like to go.  Brian told the club there will definitely be one organised trip during this event to Castle Howard and this will be at additional cost. The hotel is situated between York and Malton.  The coast is very easy to reach from it, as well as the city of York and the Yorkshire Moors.  Brian asked the club whether those going on the week away would like some entertainment by a singer, probably on the Wednesday evening gala night, and everyone was in favour of this.  Brian said he would book Victoria Lucy, who is an actor and singer.

The Autumn run has no organisers at present.
